How do I choose a program? 

For QAFP® certification, you have to complete the either the FP Canada Institute™ Technical Education—Fundamentals or a Fundamentals program recognized by FP Canada, which provides you with the foundations of key concepts in tax planning, retirement planning, and insurance and risk management (among others). 

For CFP® certification, you must complete either the FP Canada Institute Technical Education—Fundamentals and Advanced or a Fundamentals and Advanced program recognized by FP Canada. Building on the Fundamentals program, Advanced gives you a deeper understanding of key financial planning concepts and prepares you to examine clients’ financial circumstances at the highest level of complexity.
