The Joint Strategy Committee is comprised of members from the FP Canada™ Board of Directors and the Institute of Financial Planning Board of Directors.

The purpose of the Joint Strategy Committee is to:

  • share strategic discussions to the extent approved by each respective Board
  • take on selected joint governance matters
  • be responsible for other items as determined by each party's Board

Bernard Fortin has extensive experience in finance and has devoted the better part of his career to developing and promoting the profession of financial planner. He held various strategic positions in wealth management for a major Quebec financial institution from 1997 to 2015. Since then, Bernard has pursued his career with a Quebec private management firm as Vice-President, Marketing and Wealth Management.

With an Executive MBA in financial services, Bernard also holds the financial planner designation (1997). He is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FSCIMD) and a member of the Ordre professionnel des administrateurs agréés du Québec (Adm. A.). In June 2020, Bernard was elected Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF). Bernard is currently continuing his studies towards a PhD in business administration with a major in management.
