CFP certification must be renewed annually by March 31 each year. Annual requirements to renew your CFP certification include:

 

Important Changes to Your Certification Requirements – Effective January 1, 2020

FP Canada is making changes to its certification programs. Effective January 1, 2020, to maintain certification, CFP professionals will be required to complete two hours of CE in the category of Professional Responsibility (a change from the current one-hour annual requirement); for a total of 25 CE credits required annually.

 



Renew Your Certification

The annual CFP certification period expires on March 31 each year. Log in to your FP Canada Portal to renew your CFP certification now. Once your renewal application is processed, your CFP professional digital credential will be automatically updated to show that your certification status remains current.

Renewals received after March 31 will be subject to late fees. Any renewal application received after May 31 will be subject to a reinstatement fee in addition to the annual certification fee. View all certification fees including certification renewal late fees and reinstatement fees.

Reinstate Your Certification

If you are a former CFP professional with a cancelled or lapsed certification, you are permitted to reinstate within five years of your last CFP certification expiration date, subject to reinstatement policies.

To begin the reinstatement process, please email info@fpcanada.ca and attach a completed CFP Certification Reinstatement Application.

Your application will be reviewed once you have reported your CE in the CE Tracker tool with appropriate supporting documentation and paid the reinstatement fee. The application process generally takes 5-10 business days from the date you have submitted all required items.
