Please note that while successful completion of the Certification Program fulfills the educational prerequisites required to challenge the certification exam and ultimately apply for certification, further requirements must be met, including relevant work experience and others, in order to obtain certification. Section 4: Personal Essay

Describe why you want to pursue a profession in financial planning, why you will benefit from receiving the FP Canada™ Diversity in Action Scholarship, and the role it would play in helping you overcome financial barriers.

Authentic authorship is expected. You may use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, Microsoft Copilot) to support your work, however they should serve as aids—not substitutes—for your own thinking and expression.

Essays must be a minimum of 500 words and not more than 1,000 words.

Section 5: Letters of Support

Upload two (2) Letters of Support: one from a personal reference and one from a professional or academic reference. The quality and comprehensiveness of these letters form an important component of the scholarship application. References cannot be provided by family members. Additional Letters of Support will not be accepted.

These letters should describe the relationship to the applicant and provide meaningful insight into the applicant’s character, achievements, and potential for success.

Letters should be no more than 500 words.

Submission Process

The deadline to apply is October 20th, 2025. FP Canada will not consider applications after that date. FP Canada will provide applicants with a confirmation of receipt of their submission. FP Canada will notify all applicants of the outcome of their applications once all submissions have been reviewed by the FP Canada. If you have any questions about the process, contact scholarships@fpcanada.ca.

Before you begin

Make sure you have your letters of recommendation and your essay ready to paste into the application form.

Please note the application must be completed in one visit

 

Completing the Application

Your application must include the following:

  • An Application Form completed by the applicant (Sections 1-3)
  • An essay on why they want to become a financial planner and financial need for the scholarship (Section 4);
  • Two Letters of Support (Section 5) – one personal reference and one professional or academic reference. References cannot be provided by family members.
  • Attestation completed by the applicant (Section 6 ).

FP Canada will not consider incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline of October 20th, 2025.
