Projection Assumption Guidelines

Since 2015, FP Canada and Institute of Financial Planning (formerly the Institut québécois de planification financière or IQPF) have released unified Projection Assumption Guidelines. Developed by a committee of actuarial and financial planning professionals and updated annually, the Guidelines are intended as an aid in making long-term financial projections that are free from potential financial planner biases or predispositions.

The Addendum offers financial planning professionals an opportunity to replicate the recommended calculations for their own use. The Addendum contains the data sources on which the Guidelines are based, the specific calculations for inflation and rate of return guidelines.
