The Board has 11 members with diverse backgrounds that are relevant to achieving FP Canada’s purpose. Currently, the Board’s composition includes:

  • four Certified Financial Planner® professionals
  • one Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ professional
  • two public directors
  • two directors-at-large
  • two financial planners (F.Pl) licensed in the province of Québec.

Candidates for the Board are recommended by the Board Development Committee. Board members are not compensated for their work, and serve up to two, three-year terms. The Board appoints a Chair from within its ranks each year.

Denise has over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector. Currently, she serves as Assistant Vice President, Strategic Wealth Initiatives at Sun Life where she is working on launching a full service securities dealer, Sun Life Canada Securities Inc. Previously, she led Sun Life’s team of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals who work with advisors and clients across Canada and was accountable for improving the culture and capabilities of financial planning at Sun Life Canada.  

Prior to joining Sun Life, Denise held positions at major banks in the areas of financial planning, process engineering, treasury and payment solutions, and commercial deposits.  

In addition to holding QAFP® certification, Denise is certified as an Agile Product Owner and Six Sigma Black Belt in process improvement. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in applied science from the University of Toronto.
