Providers of FP Canada-approved education, including education for FP Canada™ certification and Continuing Education (CE) activities, are in demand by those on the path to certification as well as nearly 20,000 financial planners certified by FP Canada.

In this section you will find resources and information to equip you in preparing the next generation of professional financial planners for success in their careers, and supporting current QAFP® professionals and CFP® professionals in fulfilling their CE requirements.

As an educator, you may choose to offer programs leading to QAFP certification only, or both QAFP certification and CFP certification. There are separate guidelines and approval processes for each.

*FP Canada-approved Fundamentals and Advanced Programs have been previously referred to as FP Canada-approved Core Curriculum and Advanced Curriculum Programs.

Notice: Effective January 2023, FP Canada only approves Fundamentals and Advanced Program courses offered by post-secondary educational institutions, with a public mandate, who are approved by their respective provincial ministry of post-secondary education or have obtained legislated degree-granting authority within their respective province.

Resources for FP Canada-approved Fundamentals and Advanced Program Providers

All educators must demonstrate how their courses align to the FP Canada Standards Council™ Competency Profiles – and the underlying technical knowledge as detailed in the Financial Planning Body of Knowledge by providing course learning outcomes and a sampling of financial planning content and assessment items. This ensures a high focus on the practical nature of the competencies as the key driver of learning outcomes.
