Transferring and completing your education at the FP Canada Institute™

This page is for students currently enrolled in education programs towards Certified Financial Planner® certification or Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ certification at Advocis or The Canadian Institute of Financial Planning (CIFP).

For Advocis students: As of May 31, 2024, FP Canada no longer recognizes the Institute for Advanced Financial Education (IAFE) as an approved technical education provider towards CFP® certification and QAFP® certification. As a result, effective September 28, 2024 the Advocis Fundamentals Program (Core Curriculum) and Advanced Curriculum Program for QAFP certification and CFP certification will no longer fulfil the technical education requirements on the path to certification with FP Canada.

For CIFP students: Effective September 28, 2024, the CIFP Core Curriculum and Advanced Curriculum Program for QAFP certification and CFP certification will no longer fulfil the technical education requirements on the path to QAFP certification and CFP certification.

We’re here to ensure students do not face education disruption or additional costs.

At FP Canada, we’re committed to ensuring students who are currently enrolled with previously-approved education providers, and working to complete education on the path to obtaining CFP certification or QAFP certification, are able to continue their education without disruption or extra fees.

That’s why for a limited time Advocis and CIFP students have the option to complete their technical education at the FP Canada Institute™. To find out if you’re eligible, select your current education provider below and apply by following the instructions.
