Nomination criteria

FP Canada Fellow nominees can be QAFP® professionals or CFP® professionals, but they don’t have to be. The 2025 nomination period will open in spring 2025.

Volunteerism to advance FP Canada’s mandate

  • Nominees must have demonstrated a commitment to FP Canada’s mandate to advance professional financial planning in Canada.
  • They should have a long-standing history of volunteering with FP Canada and/or with other organizations that are directly related to FP Canada’s mandate and purpose.  
  • Volunteering does not include activities directly related to a person’s job. 

Advancement of FP Canada standards

  • Nominees have developed, and/or have inspired others to develop or adopt FP Canada’s standards.  
  • Nominees’ work in this area has furthered the public interest and enhanced the reputation of FP Canada certifications or will do so in the future.
  • These contributions can be through volunteering or activities directly related to the person’s  job.

The FP Canada Fellow is a prestigious distinction, with high criteria for accepting new Fellows, and may not be awarded every year.

The FP Canada Fellow will not be awarded to, and cannot be held by, an individual who has a substantiated complaint with FP Canada; a disciplinary history with FP Canada or the Autorité des marches financiers (AMF); or a disciplinary history with another regulator, professional body or SRO.
