The CFP Exam Panel is comprised of experts in all areas of financial planning, such as retirement planning, risk management and taxation.

The exam panel's purpose is to ensure:

  • the certification exams sufficiently and appropriately assess the competence of candidates for certification by demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities
  • individuals who are qualified receive a passing score and individuals who are not qualified receive a failing score

Ian works with clients across Canada providing financial planning with focus in the areas of business succession, retirement, estate, and philanthropic planning.  

Ian’s career has taken him through various positions with an insurance brokerage, banking, full-service investment brokerage, boutique fee-for-planning, and portfolio management firms.  In addition to being licensed for life, accident & sickness insurance in Manitoba, Ian is registered as both an Advising Representative (AR) in Canada and an Investment Adviser Representative (IAR) in the United States. 

Ian’s volunteer experience includes serving as a CFP examination scorer and CFP examination item writer, as well as serving on the board of directors for charities.
