The CFP Exam Panel is comprised of experts in all areas of financial planning, such as retirement planning, risk management and taxation.

The exam panel's purpose is to ensure:

  • the certification exams sufficiently and appropriately assess the competence of candidates for certification by demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities
  • individuals who are qualified receive a passing score and individuals who are not qualified receive a failing score

Jeff entered the financial services industry with Sun Life Financial in 2007, after a career in disability/vocational rehabilitation. His practice, Lightheart Insurance, and Financial Services specialize in retirement planning. Jeff values personal independence and through his firm, he aims to deliver high quality and appropriate financial planning that provides clients with greater knowledge and resources, so they can feel comfortable in making important financial decisions. Jeff strives to help clients achieve that independence and engage them in the learning process.

Jeff achieved the Certified Financial Planner® designation in 2014 and received the CLU designation in 2017. He has been a member of the Saskatchewan Provincial Social Services Appeal Board for nine years and served on the FPSC Disciplinary Hearing Panel Roster for the last two years. Jeff believes that FP Canada is a critically important organization and is to be involved in a role that helps to promote high-quality planning and the CFP designation.
