The CFP Exam Panel is comprised of experts in all areas of financial planning, such as retirement planning, risk management and taxation.

The exam panel's purpose is to ensure:

  • the certification exams sufficiently and appropriately assess the competence of candidates for certification by demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities
  • individuals who are qualified receive a passing score and individuals who are not qualified receive a failing score

Shannon is a Senior Financial Planner with the MD Signature Private Wealth business at MD Management. He works with high net-worth physicians and their families, providing holistic, actionable financial planning solutions and helping simplify their highly complex lives. In his previous roles, Shannon has led teams of financial advisors and portfolio managers, and advised clients directly. Having the expertise and opportunity to reduce stress and provide peace of mind through financial planning for physicians, so they can focus more of their time and energy on their patients, is one of the most rewarding aspects of his role.

A past Chair of the CFP® Exam Panel, Shannon has participated in numerous volunteer activities with FP Canada™ since 2016, and has been actively involved in the development of the CFP exam. He also volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors of Reep Green Solutions, an environmental charity in the Region of Waterloo, with a mission to make sustainable living the norm in our community.
