Karen Manarin is the Special Advisor on Financial Crime to the Toronto Integrated Market Enforcement Team of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  In this role, Karen provides specialized advice and oversight of investigations and prosecutions of criminal activity in the capital markets.  She also liaises with the RCMP Federal Policing Criminal Operations on national issues. Previously she was the Acting Officer-in-Charge of Toronto IMET Reporting to the Criminal Operations Officer at the RCMP.  Prior to this role at the RCMP, Karen was the Executive Director of Professional Regulation at the Law Society of Ontario, served as Deputy Director in the Enforcement Branch of the Ontario Securities Commission and as Senior Litigation Counsel at the Ontario Securities Commission.  She started her career as Counsel at Crown Law Office-Criminal at the Ministry of the Attorney General where she argued criminal appeals in the Ontario Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. 

Karen was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1991. She has taught at Osgoode Hall Law School and is a frequent speaker and lecturer at various conferences and events. 

In addition to her work at the RCMP, Ms. Manarin previously served on and continues to do volunteer work.  She is currently a member of the Finance Committee of the Humber River Hospital Foundation. She previously was a co-Chair of the Bon Furlans Fundraising Committee at Humber River Hospital. She is a past Chair of the Columbus Centre and a past Director of Villa Charities Inc.  Karen is a member of various professional associations. She is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario.
