Dawn has more than 35 years of experience in the financial planning profession and related disciplines of legal, tax and finance.  Currently she is President of Plan-4, a company dedicated to providing professional holistic financial planning on a fee-for-service basis. 

With a strong belief in excellence for the profession, Dawn has advocated for rigorous standards through a variety of her professional and volunteer activities. In 2018, Dawn was awarded the Donald J. Johnston Award, by FP Canada. 

Dawn served as Chair of the FP Canada Board of Directors from 2015 to 2017, serving eight years as a Board member in total. She also served on various boards and committees, including the FP Canada Professional Practice Working Group, which played a key role in the development of the Financial Planning Body of Knowledge. Dawn was a contributor to the Canadian Financial Planning Definitions, Standards and Competencies, the first unified set of financial planning standards for financial planners across Canada.  

Dawn is a dedicated supporter of her industry and community. In addition to her roles with FP Canada, she is the past chair of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Edmonton, past executive member of the Estate Planning Council of Edmonton and a volunteer with the Edmonton Community Foundation. Dawn has also been involved with industry organizations in the development and teaching of education towards CFP certification.
